Working in the field of hypnotherapy brings many benefits, the amazing and inspiring clients, wonderful colleagues and satisfying work with a real sense of achievement at the end of it. For me, however, the greatest gain has been mastery of trancework and the personal growth that comes from working with altered states to experience the world in a more spiritual way. I believe it is not possible to work with trance states without having spiritual or enlightening experiences. It sort of comes with the territory. Even Michael Newton (see LBL page) freely admits in his books that, in the beginning, he was a regular hypnotherapist and counselor with no interest or belief in past life work. That was before his defining moment with a client when he accidentally facilitated her memory of her life as a soul.
I noticed as I worked more and more with trance and EFT that I could connect with client's thoughts and feelings without them speaking. I began to hear guiding advice when I needed inspiration to help a client and it wasn't long before I was asked how I was doing it. Mind reading had not been on my agenda. But when you think about it logically - why not? Why, when you are communicating at a deep level with somebody is it necessary to speak out loud? In altered states why would you not be able to hear your guide giving you loving wise advice? Why can't you go deep inside and know the wisdom and the purpose of your own soul? As somone who had considered herself as sensitive as a housebrick this was something of a revelation.
So, if I could do it, I reasoned, so could anybody. I followed my curiosity and found many books to help me and wise authors who had written about similar experiences. My favourite is Sanaya Roman channelling her very wise guide Orin. The website of Orin and Daben (another high guide) (www.luminessence.com) is a source of continued inspiration and spiritual growth. One of Sanaya'a books is concerned with channelling your own guide or a higher wise being and I have run courses based on this work for interested people who wish to follow this path. It is great fun and far easier in a group where the energies can build to help you along.
