Gastric band using hypnotherapy

Do you want to try hypnotic gastric banding? If so, I have developed a protocol for clients which is currently undergoing a trial scheduled to finish after Christmas 2009. The trial is now closed to new participants but the results will be published both in the hypnotherapy press and on this website so you can have confidence that this new method is both successful and safe.

BEWARE OF HYPNOTHERAPISTS WHO ARE OFFERING THIS TECHNIQUE WITH LITTLE OR NO BACKGROUND IN WEIGHT LOSS THERAPY - IT IS NOT A QUICK FIX AND THE PROCESS HAS TO BE HANDLED CAREFULLY TO ENSURE CLIENTS ARE KEPT SAFE AND HEALTHY WHILE EATING SIGNIFICANTLY LESS FOOD THAN BEFORE FITTING THE BAND.

If you would like to book for the treatment I am taking new clients from January 2010. Contact me by email for full details, including number of sessions, follow ups, fees and guarantees.

News that a clinic in Spain has developed a method of putting a hypnotic gastric band on an overweight patient hit the newspapers on 21st May. The hypnotherapist used deep hypnosis, targetted suggestions and anchors (such as smells of the operating theatre) to install the belief that the client had been to hospital and had this gastric band operation carried out. This news gives credibility to what we already know about hypnosis that:

If the client is in a state of hypnotic somnambulism any suggestions you give (as long as they are believable and compounded sufficiently) will take root and become deeply held beliefs.

I have developed a protocol to be able to carry out this process for clients and have already begun working with a number of individuals who have volunteered to undergo hypnotic gastric banding and be monitored. The results are being recorded for publication as case studies. I am using the reesults to fine tune my methods and ensure this technique - when delivered properly to the appropriate individuals who need to lose a significant amount of weight -is safe, gives fantastic results and leaves the client slim, healthy and full of energy.

Hypnotic gastric banding is not the only way to lose weight. There are other plans which are just as effective but concentrate on more positive application of hypnotherapy. Any weight loss treatment will be designed carefully to achieve the best results for the individual and will be focussed on ensuring long term success.

New website for the Newton Institute for Life Between Lives Hypnotherapy

At the beginning of June the Newton Institute (I am the Director of Development) launched the new website which has much better functionality. I had been very involved in this project as it is my primary responsibility. Members are now able to add their own personal details and calendar events. Visitors to the site will notice a new clean look and search facility for 'Find a Therapist' - this will show the members who can offer life between lives hypnotherapy sessions around the world. If this is something that interests you check the new website here.

Daily Mail Science Editor says hypnosis works

Michael Hanlon who is the science editor at the Daily Mail is pretty sceptical about complementary therapies so it was a great surprise to read an article praising hypnosis and stating that in his opinion it is certainly one of the therapies that really works. He then went on to talk about James Esdaile who is considered the founding father of hypnotic anaesthesia. He worked in India around the turn of the 20th century using deep hypnosis to do major surgery for diseases like elephantiasis and abdominal tumours. Modern anaesthetics were not available at the time and the patients would not have been able to afford them anyway. He got the procedure of inducing hypnotioc 'coma' off to such a fine art that it was noted by visitors to the hospital that the patient would chat away during surgery without seeming to feel any effects from the cutting and sewing that was going on in their lower body. Blood loss was also minimised and the patients had a good recovery rate.

Michael Hanlon also discussed how the mind can take on the placebo affect (which is well documented) as well as the opposite negative effect. This is when people accept negative suggestions which they then go on to make into reality. An example of this is when vulnerable patients, such as those suffering from serious illness, accept the doctor's suggestions about how long they have to live - when in fact this is just a figure plucked out of the air.' You've got 6 months to live' is taken on literally by the mind and the patient dies on or close to that date. It shows you how powerful the mind is when it has taken on a belief about something - even if this belief is not really true.

We have to make sure that the practise of hypnosis is controlled because, while hypnosis and hypnotherapy are a great force for good in the world, treatment must be delivered by a properly trained practitioner who is bound by the Code of Ethics and professional practice of one of the Hypnotherapy Organisations. I belong to the NCH (Click here for details) which, in my view, is the only serious professional organisation for hypnotherapists. It is run as a mamber co-operative and is committed to very high standards of practice.
